My name is Frank van Keulen, born in Holland in the city of Enschede, a city in the East near the German border. I am 25 years old en last year Human Resource Management student at the Saxion University, in the city of Deventer.
At the moment I am writing my bachelor thesis at LightSpeed development, this company is settled in Cape Town, South Africa. My bachelor thesis, with the subject “Recruitment and Selection” of new employees is the last part of my study.
For this bachelor thesis I have to do research about the most successful way for select and recruit new employees for LightSpeed. This is important for the company because; Ashley wants to expand his company, and expanding is something what you can`t do on your own!
After I have done research about these issues, I am going to sort out what the best way to commit the new employees at LightSpeed, so they have a longer placement at LightSpeed and there is not a turnover of employees.
Cape Town is a place far away from Holland, so why did I choose for Cape Town?
I like new adventures, being in Holland for writing a bachelor thesis is not really an adventure for me. That`s why I thought for an assignment abroad. A reason why I choose for Cape Town I don`t really have. It just blows into my ears and never went away… properly a good reason… But after arriving in Cape Town, I realized that I have made a good decision. Nice weather, very friendly people, good prices for everything and everyone is more relaxed than in Holland.
A couple of reasons what I like about Cape Town!!
The environment of Cape Town is beautiful; Table Mountain, Devils Peak and Lions Head make it a special city near the Atlantic Ocean. I climbed Table Mountain, had a picknick at Signal Hill, chilled out with my roomies in Kirstenbosch, abseiling down Table Mountain and had great party’s at Long Street and some bars in Obs.
I`m here now for three weeks and did already some amazing things, the next few months I most of all working at my thesis. But in the weekend I will do more activities, like driving the Garden Route (Shark diving and maybe a bungee jump… we`ll see that!)
